About

The z e n t a n g l e ® method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way of creating beautiful images that doesn't require any recognized artistic ability.  It provides a structured path for creating art from patterns, called tangles, by breaking them down into easy steps.  Creators, Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts, believe that LIFE is an art form and that their Zentangle Method is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.  To learn more about the process, please visit their website:  www.zentangle.com
Why tangled inklings?

I have been enamored with all things tangled since 2007, eagerly pouring over books and websites to discover new tangles.  In October 2013, I traveled to Providence, Rhode Island to complete the Zentangle Teacher Training Program (CZT XII), and I am thrilled to be one of Manitoba's first Certified Zentangle Teachers!

The "Inklings" were an informal group of mostly Christian friends, including C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, who gathered regularly in the mid-20th century at Oxford University, to discuss and critique their works, which could include letters, manuscripts, artwork, dissertations, photographs, and the like.  Tolkien is attributed to saying the name was "a pleasantly ingenious pun in its way, suggesting people with vague or half-informed intimations and ideas plus those who dabble in ink".

I do like to dabble in ink, both with written word and visual art, and a good many of my ideas are only half-formed, so I thought "tangled inklings" was a fitting name for this blog.  I expect it will be an outlet for my tangled thoughts, and thoughtful tangles.
